Inspiration from Lance
Before every Tour de France I usually watch this Nike commercial featuring Lance Armstrong training. This year I got behind and just now remembered to watch it. Man, it’s such an inspiring video. It always makes me want to go ride, race trains, flock with birds (flock?). Anyway, I know I’m probably in the minority, but I’m still a Lance believer. I don’t think he doped. Watch and be inspired.

I’m in the minority too (probably a majority when you think about it). Lance is pretty great. But, I like Floyd too so I’m probably a bad judge of character. George Hincapie? Coolest cyclist of all time.

Lance is still a personal hero for me. He has done an amazing job with the LIVEstrong Foundation. I rode in the LIVEstrong Challenge in Portland twice now and each time got to ride with Lance for one or two seconds… at the beginning before he disappeared in a cloud of tire rubber fragments and dust. He wasn’t the best speechifier at the party afterwards, but he is definitely emotionally invested. BTW, a friend of mine got to go on a group ride with Floyd when he was in town last year. I would have loved to ask straight out about the doping thing, but my friend said no one mentioned it. Must have been an honor to ride with him anyway.
Seems to me there is still tons to learn about how to do the drug testing. Even this year people thought they could get away with it, and who knows, maybe some are actually innocent.

Free Floyd! Maybe I’m a sucker (read his book), but I like the guy. Seems like a good person. This is a cool video. Gives me that little funny I’m-inspired chill.... So does this one from last year’s tour. It was my favorite. I was hoping that it would come on this year during the breaks.
