I have two crappy old frames-and-parts sets for that Pfaff guy… just looked him up and emailed him. I hope he’s into it, otherwise they are going someplace which might look like a trash can.
I love the idea, and have thought about rescuing abandoned frames from bike racks around the city myself, but you need special permission from the police, unless you do it ninja-style, but the last thing I need is another run-in with John Q. Law… I’m not quite sure those mishaps from college are off my record, if the ever go away.
I was thinking that the most expensive part of an abandoned bike’s repair bill would be shifters. No problem, convert them all to single-speeds! Leave to cogs on there and everything, why not… give them to people who can’t afford cars to get to work, students, whatever. Could be a cool project if my garage wasn’t already full of “good” bikes. No room for a bunch of crappers too…
