The long route to Portage Bay Cafe

Got out for a ride today with friends--good times in the unexpected sunshine. Marne recently got herself a bike suited for pavement, so we took the long way from Ballard to Portage Bay Cafe, picking up the Belgian on the Burke Gilman in Fremont. We ran into my photographer friend Dean Forbes, who kindly snapped this shot for us. Then we spun over to Lake Washington and visited Seward Park before heading back to South Lake Union to eat our weight in French Toast. Ahhh. Now that’s a nice way to spend a Saturday.

I saw a whole new side of Seattle that I couldn’t have seen by car or feet.  I was happy to have been able to keep up with you kids who are in commuter shape, or thanks for holding back!

I rode back to West Seattle after a brunch in Wedgewood and it seemed like all of Seattle was out on bikes today. What an amazing day - I love it when midwinter gives us these flat calm, high-overcast, low 50s days. It’s some of my favorite Seattle weather.

That is so funny you saw Dean!  I saw him once at Mt. Rainier National Park over the summer, he is always out taking pictures!  Great one of you all too, it could be the cover of a biking magazine!
